The first part of lessons (1. - 8.) affects developmentally important events in European painting and sculpture during the last quarter of the 18th until the turn of the 19th century and 20th century in selected chapters. It focuses on key moments, when along with impressionism and postimpressionism the crisis of traditional relationship of art to reality arrived and began to give birth to a new sense of modern art. Lectures affect and explain rationalistic character of French classicism in the context of historical change. The courses will clarify emerging trends of romantism and strengthening subjective experience and sensualism in English painting a t the beginning of the 19th century. The lectures deal with symbolism, individualism and the need to express the specific changes of painting handwriting; they deal with the birth of realism and impressionism, with visualization problem in sculptural mass in exposed positions between its destruction and renewal; they monitor the process of diversification of the dominant creative processes for expression, impressions, imagination, design. The second part of lectures and seminars (9. - 13.) refer to the Czech depicting art of the 19th century. The lessons deal with the development of Czech painting and sculpture from the break of the 18th century, when Baroque residues penetrate into the next century. Painting was becoming institutionalized as with specific delay and classicist-academic, romantic and realistic features were applied there like elsewhere in Europe. . Manes, A. Kosárek, K. Purkyně and others were getting to the peak of quality in the work. Even this discipline achieved unity with other artistic disciplines in a project of the National Theatre In materially poorer Czech sculpture of the 19th century, the lecture deals with the issue of monumentality, genre, realism and monument, especially to the works of Levy and V. Myslbek. The courses ends with the generation of 90s of the 19th century, when trends, which gave rise to a new spirituality and the principles of value-mold to the 20th century, entered. The seminars are part of the course in which the students will be encouraged to self-study and process given topics in the form of discussion.
