Course objectives:
The objective of this course is to master the basic knowledge of linical psychology. Clinical psychology is an application of psychology which deals especially with care of ill patients, attitude of the health professionals and the patient, living of the illness and basic psychological methods related to ill people.

Requirements on student
80 per cent attendance at lectures, elaboration of a seminar paper, written examination on taught topics.

1 Psychology as a science - introduction to general psychology, definition, historical development.
2 The role of psychology among the sciences - psychological methods.
3 The environment of health care as a system, setting with psychosocial orientation.
4 Personality - personality theories, norms, deviations.
5 Personality - general characteristics, structure of the personality, types of personality.
6 Developmental psychology - individual's psychic development I.
7 Developmental psychology - individual's psychic development II.
8 Definition of the subject of clinical psychology.
9 Health and illness, factors related to human psychic.
10 Biopsychosocial model of health and illness, psychosomatic disorders I.
11 Psychosomatic disorders II.
12 Reaction to psychotraumatic circumstances, psychologic care of hospitalized patients, preparation for medical interventions, breaking the diagnosis.
13 The health professional, motivation to performance of the profession, emotions, burn-out syndrome.
14 The psychologist in the health service and the law.
