Course objectives:
|
The aim of the course is to equip students with a comprehensive overview of the history of music in the period 1600-1900, creating the basis for follow-up subjects of concrete character and narrower focus. The basis is a chronological axis of the factoid, supplemented by excursions into specific manifestations of period musical thinking (music theory), sociology, functional context, territorial grounding, evolution of organology, etc. Various perspectives on the periodisation of history, a critical assessment of the contribution of particular trends, personalities and works are also part of the teaching. The course also includes an overview of the history of Czech music in the defined period. The lectures include an audio-visual demonstration of selected musical works.

|
1. Organisation of semester lessons, coordination of plan lesson plan, verification of entry historical-aesthetic knowledge of students and students, introduction to exam requirements, specialist literature for study, sources for teaching substance.
2. Baroque (a basic characteristic in relation to other artistic disciplines).
3. The music of the early Baroque in Italy, Germany The Netherlands and England.
4. The music of the ultimate Baroque.
5. Music by Late Baroque (Personalities: Corelli, Bach, Haendel, Scarlatti etc., forms: solo concerto, concerto grosso, cantata, oratorio).
6. Classicism (a basic characteristic in relation to other artistic disciplines, inspirational sources).
7. Classicism - 1740 first development phase (J. A. Haase, Mannheim School, 1st Viennese School, W. F. Bach etc.Accessories
8. Classicism - 1763 second development phase (J. Ch. Bach, Ch. W. Gluck, the penetration of national languages into music, J. Haydn, W. A. Mozart).
9. Classicism - 1791 third development phase (A. Salieri, F. J. Gossec, E. Méhul, L. van Beethoven).
10. Romanticism (a basic characteristic in relation to other artistic disciplines, inspirational sources).
11. Romanticism - composer portraits, specifics of national schools.
12.-13. Romanticism of form and genre (e.g. symphony, romantic song, symphonic poem, opera).

Learning outcomes

Knowledge - knowledge resulting from the course: |
- safe orientation in the history of artificial music from different points of view as well as as a complex whole the field of knowledge of the history of music on the cultural historical level
- the ability to apply a musical-style and geographical-territorial approach to the history of music
- knowledge of the history of music on the chronological-time perspective (centuries, epochs, generations)
- knowledge of musical-expression means of individual periods, schools,
- knowledge of key musical personalities (composers, theorists, etc.)
- knowledge of technical terminology
- in the case of 19th and 20th century history, knowledge of the influence of nationalism on the development of culture, in turn music
- knowledge of the characteristics of individual epochs (main genres, authors, works, aesthetics) |
Skills - skills resulting from the course: |
- the ability to self-define the basic characteristics of subperiods, particular important artistic personalities and their musical thinking
- the art of assigning individual phenomena (e.g. personalities, works, compositional techniques, forms) to individual periods and to specific territories
- the skill to evaluate key works and the contribution of specific musical personalities (e.g. Haydn for instrumental music, W. A. Mozart in terms of expressiveness of expression and individual style, L. v. Beethoven as a musical synthetic)
- the ability to navigate musical demonstrations (e.g. listening demonstrations, examples in period notation)
