Course objectives:
Sight Reading is a complementary study subject of student´s major specialization in the framework of Instrumental Play study programme. As a potential orchestra player, the student broadens his/her range of knowledge and skills essential for a successful career in musical orchestras. Student is to get acquainted with major works of orchestral repertoire (emphasis here is laid on Baroque works - J.S. Bach, G.F. Händel, F. Geminiani etc.) and boosts his/her competence by means of special expercises for a quick orientation and prompt reaction to prima vista. Upon completion of the course the student shall demonstrate a quality rendering of selected and studied orchestral repertoire.

-schopnost přesvědčivé prezentace vlastního uměleckého záměru
-rozvinutá schopnost koncentrace při nácviku i při koncertní produkci

-suverénní orientace v hudebních stylech, žánrech a formách a jejich historickém vývoji
-široký přehled o interpretačních stylech a tradicích spojených s různými typy repertoáru
-detailní porozumění stylovým specifikům různých typů repertoáru s ohledem na konkrétní historické období, kulturně-geografický region a žánrový okruh
-detailní porozumění principům hudebního frázování v různých typech repertoáru

-bezpečné zvládnutí běžných technik hry na nástroj
-zvyšující se schopnost kvalitní interpretace orchestrálních partů
-zlepšující se pohotovost při hře z listu

The form of assessment of course is subject pass ("zápočet"). The result of a subject pass is expressed on the scale: a) "započteno" (i.e. "pass"), b) "nezapočteno" (i.e. "fail").
