Course objectives:

The aim of the course is to provide a detailed introduction to current research and trends in psychological disciplines being studied at the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts, University of Ostrava. Students will be introduced to a rich variety of research and findings reflecting the latest trends, including recommendations for studying current literature.

The requirements for students are the ability to communicate in English, critical thinking, working with text, ability to discuss within the lessons.

Competences - students are expected to possess the following competences before the course commences to finish it successfully: |
Students should demonstrate an orientation to the foundations of theoretical psychological disciplines (general psychology, social psychology, and personality psychology). Students should be able to participate in group discussions and actively contribute to lectures. |

Learning outcomes

Knowledge - knowledge resulting from the course: |
Students will be oriented to new trends and research initiatives in a range of psychological disciplines. They will gain a broad general overview of new findings in the basic and applied psychological disciplines taught in the department. |

Students will become proficient in navigating the literature with an emphasis on original studies, leading discussion, and critically evaluating research designs. |
