Course objectives:
During the seminar, the students will learn the basic concepts and literature. The basic of the course will consist of introduction to the history of Silesia during the reign of the Hapsburgs (1526 - 1742), understood in a European context. Greater attention will be paid to the history of the principality of Krnov, Opavian and Teschen. The emphasis will be placed on the administrative structure of the Silesian principalities, and their ties to the Czech state. The specific problems of the county Glatz, located at a Czech-Silesian border, will be also mentioned. The questions of the Silesian society and its culture, economic and religious development are included into the tuition.

Knowledge - knowledge resulting from the course:
The student will be well versed in the history of Early Modern Silesia from the Habsburgs entry to the Czech throne up to the division of Silesia. He/she will get the knowledge that will allow him a good orientation in the historical development of the Silesian principality.
