Course objectives:
Výuka je zaměřena na zprostředkování vhledu do vývoje německy psané liteatury. Cílem je naučit studenty samostatně uvažovat a na základě studia literárních pramenů objektivně interpretovat vybrané ukázky stěžejních děl a zasadit daná díla do společenského kontextu dané epochy.

Content
Lectures
1.-2. Structure of contemporary thinking at the turn of the 18th- and 19th-century in German literature and philosophy.
3.-4. Beginning of modern literature in the classical period of the 19th-century
5.-6. IIrrationalism and its basics in the new thinking of the German Romanticsm. Basic principles of the art and ideological dimensions.
7.-8. Jena movement. Later Romanticism.
9.-10. Beginnings of modern classic literature. Late Romanticism and the main topics of the stream were the past and folkiness. Tradition and Germans. Translations of important German authors.
11. Young Germany. Efforts for the life restructuring and art. Individualism vs. Collectivity.
12. Modern tendencies in German literature of the 19th-century. Realism and its streams.
13. Tragical realism. New elements in drama - life and art synthesis. New patriotic movement. Analysis of the Kleist´s work with the emphasis on complicated incorporation into Romanticism. Integration in the Romanticism, event. Realism. The Broken Jug.

c) prezentovat získané poznatky v historicko-společenských souvislostech

a) analyzovat literární texty
b) aplikovat analyzovaný text do širších souvislostí
c) posoudit význam literárního díla pro kulturněhistorický vývoj
