Course objectives:

Characteristics:
The subject comprehensively deals with current topics of trauma surgery, including diagnosis and treatment of injuries not only of the limb skeleton, but also of sinus and CNS injuries. The subject includes clinical examination and diagnosis of combined injuries and treatment strategies for polytrauma, the basics of burn medicine, plastic, reconstructive and replantation surgery. Teaching takes place in a combined form of presentations, bedside teaching, seminars with discussion of individual topics.
Objectives:
- acquiring basic knowledge about the diagnosis and treatment of cavity and limb injuries
- acquisition of basic practical habits in the care of an injured patient
- basic orientation in burn medicine, replantation and reconstructive surgery
Theoretical group - 10 - 20 students
Practical group - 5 - 10 students
Practical group clinical teaching - 5 - 10 students (max. 1 - 2 students / 1 patient, 3 - 4 students / 1 teacher)

Requirements on student
|
Attendance requirements: 100% participation in exercises and seminars. The teacher will decide on the adequacy of any apology.
Student requirements:
1. Students theoretically prepare for work in the department. The topics that will be practiced the next day are determined by the assistant of the group and depend on the current range of diagnoses at the clinic.
2. In case of non-compliance with the regime and neglecting the principles of work and operation safety and hygienic-epidemiological measures, they are expelled from the practice.
3. Students are obliged to observe the principles of medical confidentiality.
4. Students are obliged to ask questions about any problem that is not clear to them and participate in expert discussion during case analysis.
5. During internships, they can prepare tests with professional issues to practice and verify understanding of the material discussed and acquired knowledge.
Merit criterion: credit
Credit requirements: It is not possible to take the course or the credit if the student does not meet the prerequisites.
Requirements for completing the course:
The student receives credits for the completed course only if he has fulfilled all the requirements stated in the course syllabus.
If a written test is set, the percentage minimum criteria or the number of points for successful completion are defined, which is binding within the course syllabus.
Benefit criterion:
Of all the partial requirements for the student, the student must obtain the minimum set percentage threshold of success or a classification with a grade of at least "E".
Other specifications are given by the type of subject and are defined in the syllabus of the subject, they are binding for the student.

Overview of seminars and exercises:

Contents of the field of traumatology, pathophysiology of the organism's response to injury.
2.
Classification, diagnosis and treatment of cavity injuries.
3.
Classification, diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries.
4.
Conservative and operative treatment of fractures. Diagnosis, treatment, pathophysiology of fracture healing. Principles of different types of osteosynthesis, treatment of complications.
5.
Combined limb injuries, polytrauma, damage control surgery.
6.
Burn medicine.
7.
Plastic and reconstructive surgery, replantation.
