Course objectives:
|
The seminar is designed for international students who want to familiarize with principles of the correct Czech pronunciation or who want to master it. Theoretical information about the most important phenomena of the sound level of the Czech language is supplied with practical training of some particular elements. This training is completed with analysis of quality of the students' pronunciation, as well as with individual recommendations for improvement of the proper Czech articulation, word stress placement or usage of correct intonation. Content of the individual seminars could be adjusted to the students' requirements and level of their practical skills.

Requirements on student
|
Active participation in seminars, completion of successively set tasks (e.g. short speech exercises or training of Czech texts reading). The final requirement is represented by fluent reading (without considerable pronunciation mistakes) of a selected Czech text within the last seminar.
Evaluation - points: - participation in seminars - application of theoretical knowledge (10 points); - individual study of linguistic literature (20 points); - presentation of fluent reading within the last seminar (30-70 points). Student must obtain min. 50 points.

Content
|
Survey of topics 1. Analysis of pronunciation level of individual students. Principles of correct Czech pronunciation - introduction to the most important phenomena. 2. Czech vowels - information about their correct formation, training of their exact articulation. 3. Czech vowels - explanation of the place and manner of their formation and of their voice. Training of proper articulation. 4. Rules of standard Czech pronunciation - explanation of the most important principles, practical training. 5. Sound media of continuous speech - word and sentence stress, segmentation of speech, modulation (namely types of intonation). Training of continuous texts reading. 6. Comprehensive exercises - speech exercises, texts reading, listening to spoken and sung language and reproduction of heard text etc. 7. Credit - fluent reading (without considerable pronunciation, intonation or orthoepical mistakes) of a selected Czech text.
Communication between the teacher and students takes place via e-mail (students only use the student e-mail), any consultations or online meetings take place (on the basis of prior agreement) in the MS Teams environment.
