Course objectives:
The teaching of pharmacology is divided into general and special part. In the general part the pharmacology deals with the pharmaceuticals in the organism (pharmacokinetics.), the interaction and undesirable effects of the pharmaceuticals. In the special part it deals with the effects of the pharmaceuticals on the organism (pharmacodynamics) with the concentration on pharmacotherapy of selected systems in relation to the therapeutical rehabilitation.

Attendance at lectures, written examination.

Content


1 Introduction to pharmacology, basic terminology and definitions, classical pharmacology.
2 General pharmacology - pharmacokinetics. Absorption, distribution and excretion of pharmaceuticals.
3 General pharmacology - pharmacodynamics. Undesirable effects. Interaction of pharmaceuticals.
4 TDM, assessment of pharmaceuticals level, therapy check.
5 Pharmacology of the central system I. General anaesthetics, hypnotics, sedatives.
6 Pharmacology of the central system II. Psychopharmaceuticals, analgesics.
7 Pharmacology of the vegetative nervous system I. Substances influencing the sympathicus.
8 Pharmacology of the vegetative nervous system II. Substances influencing the parasympathicus.
9 Pharmacology of the cardiovascular system I. Cardiotonics, antiarrhythmics, vasodilators.
10 Pharmacology of the cardiovascular system II. Diuretics, antihypertensives, anticoagulants.
11 Pharmaceuticals influencing the respiratory system. Pharmaceuticals influencing the digestive system.
12 Antibiotics and chemotherapeutics.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge - knowledge resulting from the course:
The student knows theoretical fundamentals of general and specialized pharmacology.
He/she knows basic groups of pharmaceuticals, effects of particular pharmaceuticals and interactions.
He/she understands the interactions of pharmacotherapeutic and therapeutic interventions.
